Photo Challenge, Day One: Self-Portrait

Day One: Self-Portrait

Here is where my thirty day photo challenge begins. Being honest, I was actually incredibly excited to start with a self-portrait, for a few reasons. The main reason being, last year I was really involved in my creative photography. If I had an idea, I went out and tested it. More often than not though, I was my own model. For this reason, I basically just ended up with a lot of profile photos. However, around June I started modeling with a local company (Gloss), and since then I haven't had the motivation to express myself creatively. Mainly because I knew whoever was taking my photo could probably do a much better job than I could.

There are many things I hate about this photo. Many. However, it happens to be the photo I like the most (that isn't already set aside for a separate day of this challenge). Going through the creative process to take this photo really confirmed that this is going to be a good creative year for me. Everything was exciting to me, from start to finish. Which hasn't been the case lately, and I think a good part of the reason is because I was pushing my self expression aside to give what others wanted. However, I've decided 2015 is the year I get my mojo back. That means lots of creative shoots (probably with myself).

Anyways, I'll be back tomorrow with "what I wore today" (it's basically an outfit of the day/OOTD).

Stay tuned.

Welcome

Happy New Year!

Over the past year, I made a signficant effort to step outside of my comfort zone and test the waters out in many different areas. One of those areas happened to be blogging, with the start of my blog All Things Tachy. A few months ago, I thought it would be really interesting to start a new blog, where I could talk about everything non-illness related. After all, there is way more to be as a person than my diagnosis'. However, I am an incredibly indecisive person, and therefore spent hours designing this new blog, only to scrap the entire thing and start over multiple times. I ended up with a design almost indentical to my other blog (go figure). Regardless, I thought there's no better time to embark on this new journey than right now, so here we go.

To begin, this blog will probably be a mix of pretty much anything and everything I can come up with. I will do my best to somehow keep the posts related, rather than just having an entire blog full of ramblings. One thing I will be posting a decent amount of will be my photography. I recently took a small break from photoshoots to catch up on editing and recharge my batteries, and now I have so many creative ideas and passions just waiting to happen. However, I recently waded into the DSLR pool, so there is a lot for me to learn before great pictures happen. I figured a great way to incorporate both would be to participate in a 30 day photo challenge.

The instructions are pretty straight forward: 30 days of photos, each day with its own specific type of photo to be taken. I've already created a list of ideas of images I would like to try, and I've encouraged my sister to participate in this challenge as well (she's not a photographer... yet). I won't be posting from the first or second of the month until the 30th or 31st just because I'm still fighting off a cold and don't feel all too energetic currently. My plan is, as soon as I'm up to par, I'll be starting day one of the photo challenge, and then just continuing until the 30 days are up. I plan on posting all the photos here, with longer descriptions of camera specifics and explanations of why I chose each photo.

This year is going to be full of creative expression and personal growth, and I'm thrilled to finally be able to share my ideas with those who follow me and/or my work. I hope you've all had a fun, safe, and happy holiday.

Be back soon.
